Odds and ends

October 1st, and this morning I lit the Bubble stove for the first time in six months. Later on, after some very heavy rain, like yesterday, it warmed up a lot. And then the clouds formed.

I installed the second new, old lamp today. The pair of them look really good. That's just as well, since the old, old lamp we were considering keeping where it was got rather dented. A joint effort of mine and Grace's. We won't be using it anywhere now. I doubt we could even give it away.

Even though Autumn TV is rather more interesting than it's been over the past months, Grace and I have collected a lot of DVDs to watch. If you're the slightest bit interested, I'll be writing a post about all of the films we watched since... erm, since the last time I posted about films. At the moment, we have 25 queued for viewing. Last night, we watched a good 'un.

"Once" is a 2007 film made on a very small budget, by a very small company, and produced in a rather different way from normal. The lead roles are played, not by actors, but by musicians. Very good ones, who do a pretty darned good job of acting, too.
IMDB doesn't have a lot to say about it...
"A modern-day musical about a busker and an immigrant and their eventful week in Dublin, as they write, rehearse and record songs that tell their love story."
but that is all there is to the story. It's really not so much to do with what happens, but how and why. It's very different. We loved it.
